Plaster Boarding
Plaster boards are an essential part of the plasterers repertoire. They are used to create new ceilings, or to line rooms prior to plastering. They can be essential, or they can be used to cut corners. Masters of Plaster only use them appropriately. Quality always comes first.

Tape and Jointing
When using boards, they need to be joined, prior to plastering. The joins must be strong, permanent and completely seamless. Tape and jointing is that process. Its a very skilled job in its own right, either done mechanically or by hand.

Rough Casting
Rough casting is a form of rendering. Its more commonly known as Pebble dash. It is composed of cement and sand, which is applied to the exterior walls. Pebbles, small shells or a mixture of box are then pressed into the wet cast. It creates a strong and durable finish that will last for decades.

Wet Dash
Wet dash is another form of render. Its popular in the north of the UK, where it works well exposed to extreme weather. It is thrown wet onto the wall, and left unfinished. It sounds quite easy, but getting the mix exactly right is very hard. If its too wet, or too dry, it won't adhere to the wall. It takes great skill to get it right.

Float and Set
Every good plasterer prides himself on his float and set. It is also known as wet plastering, and its another important skill every plasterer needs.

The plaster is applied wet, to a rough, but well prepared wall. Its intended to level a wall, prior to the top coat being added. so is applied to a depth of roughly 10mm. This ensures a smooth and even surface. Tiles or a top coat of plaster are then added. Good wet plastering is hard to learn, but gives great results.

Coving
Coving is a plaster feature that will enhance almost any room. It looks good in a modern home, it looks good in a traditional home. It originated in the Georgian period and was invented to hide the uneven junction between the wall and ceiling. First found in high status houses, it filtered downwards until, by the mid twentieth century it was found in half the houses in Britain.

Coving is a popular choice, and when well chosen, it gives an organic sense of completeness to a room's interior design. Masters of Plaster can advise you on choosing coving, and can fit it to a very high standard. We can also renovate your existing coving, and even remove it, if it no longer fits with your decor.

Renovation

The plaster work downstairs was generally pretty poor. The coving needed work, and we had various areas of blown plaster. Masters of Plaster did a lovely job on it all.

Really Good

When we moved in, the plaster was worse than we thought. Plus we had the house rewired, so the electrician caused lots of damage. The team did a really good job on everything. Highly recommended. Thank you.

Bad DIY

Our house had suffered some really bad DIY. The worst we have ever seen. It was shocking. We got quotes and Masters of Plaster were really positive about what they could do. We booked them, and they were brilliant.
